1:30 AM Victory

Last night I got schooled in Cities and Knights. It all started by a victory of Denton which lead to Drew and I unhappy that he wasn't up for a rematch. We then called Dad and he played us. Yes, he played us with 2 computer assisted victories with Drew whinning about a opening city placement on a 12 sheep, 4 brick and sea inbetween Dad's schooling in the matter of Settlers. So the last and final game I won, with Drew right on my heels. It was fun playing. We were playing one of those discovery boards where you build to a blank space without knowing what is there and then it flips with the resource and number. One game his first discovery was a 9 gold, and right next to it was a 4 gold. Drew and I in the meantime found only 2, 3, 11, 12 with the occastional 4 or 10 mixed in. The other game we played was about the same but Dad discovered a 8 gold after finding only 9's and 5's. In fact I think one game Dad had more points than Drew and I combined so we called the game early and started a new board.

This week I started my rotation in Peds. It is so funny. The attending and I walk into the room and begin the history taking and the kid is happy, laughing and most of the time like us. But once they get near the table all hell brakes loose and the end of the nice happy kid. I think we see about 40 kids a day and 35 will cry, its a talent really. This week besides the strept throat, ear ache and colds I say impetigo, a geographic tounge and ring worms. In peds I have to look things up a lot more. I got pretty good at OB/GYN, Medicine, Family but peds has its own history and differencials. Good thing it is only the first week and I will get better at it.

Romney Wins Michigan

I just wanted to change my post since Seattle lost. I felt a little silly with them as my template. In a couple of months I will throw my support to the Mariners until they drop out of the race, lets say July then start something new. I started my Peds rotation this week and it is going well so far. I do enjoy peds, Dad, Drew and the rest of the medical community doesnt agree. I have seen sore throat, strep throat, impetigo and healthy kids. I did see one little girl who is having migrains everyday. The doctor told the girl to eat a little chocolate and take a nap in a quiet room. The girl started to cry, I hate chocolate. I thought it was funny. I am taking family collections for Romney Support wear.....

0 to 60 in 3 days

Happy New Year Everyone!!! I cant sleep tonight it is just to hot. Yes you heard me right it is to hot in this house. Even Azteca would agree. She gets up every 10 mins to move to another place on the tile that is cooler than the spot she is currently at. Edon is trying to sleep and she has the fan on high and the windows open. This is starting to sound like Guadalajara but this is Chicago, the windy city, where it is supposed to be cold. Where the news broadcast nationwide people freezing on their way to work. This is crazy. 3 days ago it was cold, and by cold I mean cold. The temp said -1 but with the wind it felt like -20. 2 days ago it was cold but not cremaster cold. Yesterday it was a high of 45 today the low was 43 and it reaching into the 60's yes the 60's. Who needs Arizona in the winter when you have Chicago.

Last but not least... Davenport's Biggest Loser...

My vote goes to David! He is the biggest LOSER! I think his golden thong seals the deal.

Well I do have some goals that I have set with Edon.

1) I want to lose at least 30 lbs this year and hopfully more.
2) I want to exercise 3 times a week for at least 30 mins
3) I want to change my eatting habits and incorperate healthier foods
*** I know I cannot measure this goal ***
4) Do a weekly weigh-in and measurements and keep track of my progress
5) Be accountable for my goals by posting them once a month of my achivements

6) Read the Book of Mormon this year
7) Read the conference talks, scriptures or Preach My Gospel with Edon everyday
8) Read Joseph Smiths teachings, before the 2nd and 3rd weeks of the months
9) Have 100% hometeaching this year
10) Pray morning and night personally and with my family everyday
11) Share the Book of Mormon with a friend this year
12) Increase my commitment to the Lord
*** I know I cannot measure this goal either ***
I just dont want to fix on physical lifestyle changes but to work on my spiritual body as well.

Preparing for Christmas

The Christmas season has arrived and I think I am ready for the big day. I have wrapped all Edon's presents bought and wrapped, now thinking of it I still need a couple of things for her stocking. The decorations are up and you can see them in the slide show. Since Edon and I have no traditions we are trying to find things to do on Christmas eve and Day. We are inviting the 4 missionaries over for a brunch and I think we will go see National Treasure at the movie theater. Besides that we are trying to figure out what to do. I get 2 weeks off whereas Edon only has Christmas Day off. We will keep you posted on what we do. Here are a few videos to keep you in the christmas spirit.





This rotation is going okay. OB is fun. I do enjoy talking to the expecting mothers and assisting on the deliveries. Seeing babies born is fun about this job, however GYN is another story. I am convinced women dont go to see the doctor unless something is wrong. I have seen enough STDs in the first two weeks to last me a lifetime. I think I can now tell the difference of many diseases by the smell. The joy of a OB/GYN. Just like Bush said, practice the love.

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone.

I started my Thanksgiving by admitting 3 people to the hospital, nothing really serious only syncope. So I got off at 8:00 am and Edon came and got me at 9:00. We drove to the Zoo, missing it a couple of times, but made it. The chicago Turkey Trott was going on around the place. Lincoln Park Zoo is a really cool place. It was small utilized the space well and had great exhibits. This on was one of my favorites. The indoor large cat cages. These lions were active they were walking around from the outside exhibit to the inside one. The male lion was playing with that huge tree trunk there and then they would all of the suddon roar loudly that would fill the entire hall. There was this family there with small children and after the lions put on there show they all clapped and cheered. I thought it was funny.

It was cold at the zoo so many of the animals had access the their inside home and were off display. The most diappointing off display animal was the polar bear. Its a polar bear it is used to the cold. It lives in the Artic! I know Chicago gets cold but not that cold. If you look closely in the background of the picture you will notice the flamingos. Now the flamingos, native home Miami--do you really know where flamingos are from, me niether-- can withstand the cold but the polar bear gets a free pass. Thats cold, really cold.After the Zoo we went to have Thanksgiving Dinner...at McDonalds. It was open only until 4 so we had to hurry. No seriously we went to McDonalds for lunch about the same time most of the family was eating their turkey dinner. I was getting really tired and took a pit stop at McDonalds to wake up. I could have let Edon drive but she was on the phone talking to her family. I think she had a good day too. The first one away from family and being on our own. It is different on your own but fun in its own little way. These last photos speak for themselves.
